You surely know the beautiful song of German band Silbermond?
We all are carrying too much “luggage” with us in our lives. Not even speaking about emotional burdens which are a topic of their own. There is a similarity between travel where you feel by every extra gram heavily on your back that less would have been more and the predominant materialism in the last decades.
“People were made to be loved. Things were made to be used. The reason why the world is in chaos is because things are being loved, and people are being used” by the Dalai Lama is one of my favourite quotes on this topic.
I recently have completely turned my apartment upside down just to realise that even myself, someone who does not really like shopping possesses far too many things which I either hardly use or even have never used before and probably never will. I then donated these things, sold them online or just threw them away.
Because it is better to travel with light luggague… (Original: “Denn es reist sich besser mit leichtem Gepäck…”)
